Just a quick post to reveal the newest cover I just designed. This book from Deborah J Hughes is due to be released on or around October 24th. It’s an awesome ghost story set in New England.

Today I’m hosting author Rachel Carrington on my blog who has a new book coming out on October 20th titled Waking Up Immortal.
Here’s a little bit about Rachel from her website:
Rachel Carrington began her career writing fantasy romances of powerful wizards and wicked witches. Since then, she has branched out into contemporary romance and romantic suspense and has had books published with Ellora’s Cave, Samhain Publishing, Red Sage Publishing, and more.
Currently, a freelance editor/writer residing in historical Charleston, South Carolina, Rachel has written non-fiction articles for Absolute Write, The Writer’s Journal, Writing for Dollars, Writer’s Magazine, and Writer’s Weekly.
Because she likes staying busy, Rachel has also taught classes for Suite 101 and for author groups regarding promoting, writing, starting your own business, and editing.
When not writing, Rachel loves to read romantic suspense (Lisa Gardner and Roxanne St. Claire are two of her favorites), rework old furniture, cross-stitch, cook, and drink lots of coffee.
Chloe Emerson, the heroine in Waking Up Immortal, discovers her immortality after she’s had a car accident. Her mother thought her heart had stopped in the ambulance so decided it was time to let her daughter in on the secret. So begins Chloe’s journey to find the man who fathered her and hopefully discover a way to change her genetics.
The book is told in first person from Chloe’s point of view. So why did I decide to use a man (Jimmy Thomas, no doubt) on the cover instead of a woman to portray the heroine? Because the story isn’t just Chloe’s, and though I certainly want the readers to be interested in what Chloe has to say, I also want them to wonder about Kier, the man who steals Chloe’s heart and shakes up her world. I want the readers to hunger to know more about him, and I thought a snapshot might pique their interest a little more.
I know some readers might be thinking every hero can’t look like Jimmy Thomas, but that’s not the point. Jimmy personifies what every hero is supposed to be—a good-looking, muscular, successful man who just looks like he could kick anyone’s butt who gets in his way. That’s what I wanted my readers to see in Kier.
And in Book Two of the Universal Security Series, readers will get to know Kier even better for as much as Waking Up Immortal reveals Chloe’s struggles, Living Dangerously walks the reader down Kier’s path from his beginning to what may very well be his end.

Hello, everyone! Hope you’re having a great Saturday. Just a heads up, I will be hosting Rachel Carrington here on my blog tomorrow. I’ll be doing a reveal of her newest book cover and a little bit about it from Rachel herself. So come on back tomorrow and give her some support!
I’m so excited to reveal the latest cover I’ve been working so diligently on lately. It has gone through many edits and changes and ooh I love that and nope don’t like that, let’s get rid of it! Heehee, I love a challenge. So without further ado I give you Lauralynn Elliott’s newest book cover:
So what do you think? The story is going to be great. I’ve had the honor of reading this one as Lauralynn in writing it (which I do most of hers..wink wink). It has mystery, it has magic, and of course it has romance. Even I don’t know yet how this is going to turn out because she is still writing it. But I won’t have to wait too much longer and neither will you! What is also exciting to me is I actually had a little bit of input into the story this time too. I’m not telling you what though because I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll tell you after you’ve read it. 😉
So stayed tuned to find out when the big release day is but enjoy the cover in the meantime. I mean really, enjoy it. Who wouldn’t want to sit and stare at the fabulous Jimmy Thomas that graces the front of this book? He looks rather lonely doesn’t he? I think he needs a hug. I can fix that!
New Cover – Find Emily
Here is the cover I designed for JJ Toner’s newest book coming out in September. It is the second book in his Ben Jordan series.
Here’s the blurb:
“When 11-year-old schoolgirl Emily is kidnapped, DI Ben Jordan has 24 hours to find her before she is killed — or worse. Fresh out of rehab, and with his career and marriage in tatters, Jordan is facing impossible odds and ruthless opponents. But he has help. Emily won’t go down without a fight.”
HOT! HOT! HOT!
So temps here in southeast Tennessee have been over 100 degrees for a few weeks. Which means the heat index is even higher. Yuk!
Well, to make matters worse we had a freak gust storm last Thursday (with no rain, which we really need) and several counties in our area lost power due to trees down on power lines or power lines snapped by the wind.
So around 7pm last Thursday our power flickered a few times then it was gone. No lights, no water (since we are on a well) and no air conditioner. 😦
So here it is Saturday evening at 10:00pm and our power just came back on 2 hours ago. Can you say 2 days of MISERABLE??? At least we are lucky enough to have a generator which allowed us to plug up a few necessities like the refrigerator and some fans. (oh and the coffee pot, tv and internet every so often – priorities ya know -HA ). So we would get things cooled off as much as possible then unhook the generator and move it to the well house so that we could shower, flush the toilets and fill up jugs of water. Then we unhooked it again and brought it back to the house before it could heat up too much from the fans being off.
By the way, did you know that fans don’t work so well in this hot and humid weather? It just moves hot air around. Bleh!
But, I am rejoicing now in the coolness that is finally working its way through our house and the ability to take a cold shower to cool off. Yay!
I just want to say one thing though. The electrical linemen that have work out in this horrible weather to get our power restored are due a huge THANK YOU! They work out there 24/7 to get everyone’s power back up and running and get very little thanks and a whole lot of negative response from people. They can only work so fast and some of these areas that have to be fixed are very hard to get to. Yet they do their job and try to ignore the bad attitudes of selfish people.
I don’t call and complain because it’s possible they may be helping restore power to some poor elderly person’s home that just can’t deal with the high heat or someone with medical problems that needs their electricity to run equipment that could mean the difference between life and death. I can deal with a little inconvenience so that others can get the help they need.
Hopefully everyone else gets their power restored soon. I think they said it may be Monday before everyone’s power is completely fixed.
I tried to work on a couple of book covers today but it was just too hot to really concentrate on it without getting a headache. Maybe I can do some more tomorrow. Have I said lately how much I love creating book covers? So much fun and stress relieving. I wish I could do this full-time. Sigh….maybe one day.
Hope everyone else has had a good weekend. Mine is definitely looking better than it started!
I really wish I could think up more of things to post but it’s just hard for me to do that. I’m not a writer that has all this stuff going on in my head that just screams to get out. I think I have too much other stuff going on in my head to pick any one thing out. 😉 Anyway, just in case anyone was wondering why I don’t post often that is why.
I do have one question….so who all out there is going to see the new Disney movie Brave? I’ve really been looking forward to it. I love all things Scottish and well it’s Disney! I love Disney. Even my 11 yr old son is excited about seeing it even though technically I guess it’s another Disney “princess” movie but that’s ok. I think there is plenty enough action in this one to appeal to the boys too. 😉
I’ve been working on some new book covers for authors that is keeping me busy along with designing a brochure for my hubby’s business. Not sure who is pickier: authors or my hubby. hahahaha! Anyway, as long as I’m designing a book cover I’m happy. This is still a great stress reliever for me. Maybe one day my passion for designing can be my full-time career instead of the day job I have been doing for 18 years now. Sheesh!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! Hoping I can fit in a beach trip before my ‘wee beastie’ (ha, told you I want to go see Brave) goes back to school in the Fall.
So I just found out yesterday that the cover I just finished for Lauralynn Elliott’s Loving the Dead and the UnDead is the 3000th (that’s right there are 3 zeroes there) that cover model Jimmy Thomas is on.
I am beyond excited. I mean besides that the man is the best eye-candy I’ve ever had the pleasure to look at. **drooling here** (where’s my drool cloth…heehee) He is also the sweetest guy out there in the romance novel community. He informed me that the cover I just did was his 3000th and that he was going to plaster it everywhere! So now it’s on his Facebook page and his website that he has setup RomanceNovelCenter.com so thousands of people are now seeing MY cover!
I’ve already had another person interested in me doing a cover for them based on him posting the cover so this looks like it might help me win over some new clients! I also hope that it will boost the sales of Lauralynn’s books as well. How cool is that!
Who knows maybe I have a chance yet of this becoming my full time job. Although like they say if you love what you do then it’s not really a “job” is it? 😉
Ok going to go do some more happy dancing! WooHoo!!!!
