Today I’m hosting author Rachel Carrington on my blog who has a new book coming out on October 20th titled Waking Up Immortal.
Here’s a little bit about Rachel from her website:
Rachel Carrington began her career writing fantasy romances of powerful wizards and wicked witches. Since then, she has branched out into contemporary romance and romantic suspense and has had books published with Ellora’s Cave, Samhain Publishing, Red Sage Publishing, and more.
Currently, a freelance editor/writer residing in historical Charleston, South Carolina, Rachel has written non-fiction articles for Absolute Write, The Writer’s Journal, Writing for Dollars, Writer’s Magazine, and Writer’s Weekly.
Because she likes staying busy, Rachel has also taught classes for Suite 101 and for author groups regarding promoting, writing, starting your own business, and editing.
When not writing, Rachel loves to read romantic suspense (Lisa Gardner and Roxanne St. Claire are two of her favorites), rework old furniture, cross-stitch, cook, and drink lots of coffee.

So welcome, Rachel! Tell us about your upcoming book.
Chloe Emerson, the heroine in Waking Up Immortal, discovers her immortality after she’s had a car accident. Her mother thought her heart had stopped in the ambulance so decided it was time to let her daughter in on the secret. So begins Chloe’s journey to find the man who fathered her and hopefully discover a way to change her genetics.
The book is told in first person from Chloe’s point of view. So why did I decide to use a man (Jimmy Thomas, no doubt) on the cover instead of a woman to portray the heroine? Because the story isn’t just Chloe’s, and though I certainly want the readers to be interested in what Chloe has to say, I also want them to wonder about Kier, the man who steals Chloe’s heart and shakes up her world. I want the readers to hunger to know more about him, and I thought a snapshot might pique their interest a little more.
I know some readers might be thinking every hero can’t look like Jimmy Thomas, but that’s not the point. Jimmy personifies what every hero is supposed to be—a good-looking, muscular, successful man who just looks like he could kick anyone’s butt who gets in his way. That’s what I wanted my readers to see in Kier.
And in Book Two of the Universal Security Series, readers will get to know Kier even better for as much as Waking Up Immortal reveals Chloe’s struggles, Living Dangerously walks the reader down Kier’s path from his beginning to what may very well be his end.
